A New Crush

I may have a new favorite kid. He made me laugh all day. It started this morning when we were reading a story. In this story a little girl had labeled one of her drawers "undies." Of course the mention of underwear was more than they could handle and they started saying "gross" and giggling. My usual response to this is "Get over it. You all wear underwear. It's no big deal." Christopher's response was a whispered "No I don't. I wear boxers." Then he showed them to me to prove his point (by lifting up the bottom of his shorts). You might think that was my favorite conversation of the day. You'd be wrong. I had to keep him in from afternoon recess (he can never get his work finished because he is always talking). Here is the conversation:

Christopher: Alot of boys think that Layla is cute.
Me: She is pretty cute. Do you have a crush on her?
Christopher: I think she's cute. Don't tell her. Alot of boys choose her.
Me: I won't tell her. You should probably stop talking and get your work finished.
Christopher: Do you have a crush on me?
Me: Huh?
Christopher: Do you have a crush on me?
Me: Why would you think that? (laughing)
Christopher: You kept me in from recess.

I'm not going to lie. This kid is one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. He is very charming. And he has dimples. But I don't have a crush on him. Promise.

  1. I swear if you ever bring "Christopher" home, I'm turning you into the authorities, no questions asked. I feel like that kid is a young Rhett or Maxim.

  3. I think he was just making sure that you didnt have a crush on him so he knows that he can safely move onto the other girl in class. You know, he doesnt want to hurt your feelings!

  5. Ok- that kid is trouble already. Very cute- but trouble.

One thing I have to comment on though: "Alot of boys choose her."

Wow - boys never do change, do they? There will always be "Layla" and they will all run after her.

  6. I love how bold and honest kids are. Seriously how many adults do you know would outright ask if you have a crush them?? Hmmmm....that's totally what I'm gonna start doing!
