Lalalalalala Tonight

Jr High is a time in my life that I have always said I'd never want to do over. Until last night. Last night I was in Jr High again. And I loved every second of it. I went to the New Kids on the Block concert. I loved it more than I should've and am not afraid to admit it. Awesome. WhenI heard they were coming I didn't seriously consider going. Then I got an email from Amy (you can see the 9th grade version of her here). No regrets my friends, no regrets.

I was mostly surprised by how many of the songs I still remember. Not to mention the dances (both those performed by New Kids and the ones I made up myself). I was worried that Jordan, Jon, Donnie, Danny and Jon would mostly want to promote their new album. They did sing a few songs but lucky for the fans - their new stuff sounds exactly like their old stuff!

There really were a lot of similarities between my two NKOTB concert experiences. But the differences I noticed made me love the concert that much more.

Turns out NKOTB fans are now old enough to drink. This wouldn't have bothered me so much if the girls next to me had actually been able to keep their drinks in their cups. Instead of all over my jeans and jacket. Seriously. (So this wasn't one of the things that made me love the concert. Just something I noticed.)

Back in the day I loved Joey. I'm not really sure how I went about deciding which New Kid I was going to love. Amy loved Jordan. I loved Joey. Now I think we both love Donnie.

I'm sure that there were little kids at the concert I went to 18 years ago. There were a lot of little kids at this concert as well. However, this time they were the children of fans - not actual fans themselves. Does it damage your street cred when your concert is mostly appropriate for four years olds?

While I was impressed with the endurance of the guys I did notice that they took a few more breaks this time around than they did back in the day. I wonder why that was?

At some point during the show I turned to Amy and said "They are ridiculous right?" She agreed that they were. I loved every second of that ridiculousness.

  2. I loved Jordan back in the day. I saw him on The View a few months ago and the love is gone. I think I could love Donnie except everytime I think of him, I think of that creepy scene in the Sixth Sense.

  4. I always liked Joey too, in a totally not gay way. Then Donnie went and appeared in the very manly "Band of Brothers" and I have to say too, that he is my favorite.

  7. I went to the concert and I loved it too! (And noticed the beer sales were up too!) I think the guys did great and I'm not afraind to tell anyone. I liked jon 15 years ago because he was the one I could bring home to the parents and Jordan and Donnie were way to crazy (kept taking their shirts off). BY a long run Jordan is sooo freaking hot now and I'm the crazy one.
